GE Refrigerator Class Action Law Suit

It seems that GE has a bit of a problem on their hands with moisture and mould in their refrigerators; specifically with the ice maker and dispenser area. This lawsuit is being blogged about at Bring Good Things To Life. Their mission statement is ‘Confronting corrupt corporate behavior and contempt of consumers through effective communication and the power of grassroots organization.’ Whew – I think that says it all!

Another major manufacturer once told me that ice makers constituted almost 50% of their repair costs. Ice makers are the one place in a fridge where you combine water, ice, heaters and electricity all into one tiny little unit. No wonder there are such problems. Maybe it is time to rethink the old twist tray!

Sorry – I am not an authorized GE servicer so I cannot offer any specific advice. The only thing that I can really suggest is to escalate the issue with GE directly. (Not the service company or dealer.) Who is the “they never got back to me” and why, after maybe a week, did you not contact them again? Take control of your situation and be proactive. Call GE everyday until you get the satisfaction that you want. Keep notes of all your contacts including names and when the calls were made. Make sure you end each phone call with a confirmation of what is going to be done by the person you are talking to and write it down. In the end, the more effort you put into getting the situation resolved the better chance you will get a solution you are happy with.

I have had a problem with my GE refrigerator. the refrigerator doors were replaced in October 2006. We were to have received a letter extending our warranty which never came. We were also informed that if the moisture problem continues we would receive a new refrigerator. The problem still exists. We have excess moisture, trouble with ice cubes, and a constant noise which only goes away when the doors of the refrigerator are open.
When I contacted them that the problem has continued they never got back to me. What can you suggest?
